Barcelona is the capital of Catalonia
and Spain’s second-largest city; it is also one of the world’s most gracious
cities.
In addition to the narrow streets of the Gothic Quarter there are
the magnificent avenues lined by elegant boutiques and the whimsical facades
of buildings designed by the famous Catalonian architect Antonio Gaudi.
Discover the city's outstanding museums dedicated to such masters
as Picasso, Miro and Mares. No visit to Barcelona would be complete without
seeing the Church of the Holy Family, or Sagrada Familia. Gaudi began this
fantastic creation in 1883 but was unable to finish.
Pier Information
The ship is scheduled to dock at Moll d’Adossat. The town
center is approximately two miles away. Taxis are generally available at
the pier.
Shopping
Look for high fashions, antiques, leather articles,
typical Spanish handicrafts and souvenirs. Most shops traditionally
close at midday and reopen in the late afternoon.
Cuisine
Enjoy tasting the local wines, accompanied by tapas.
These local snacks are served typically in special bars, generally in
the early evening as a filler-in before a late dinner.
Golf
Real Club de Golf el Prat
Two 18-hole championship courses: the Yellow course has many water
holes, has Bermuda greens that are good but slow, and is the flatter of
two courses. The Green course is easier and is more attractive, with
more trees. |
